Polack directs film for Istituto Marangoni & Vogue Italia

Istituto Marangoni commissions Polack to produce the 2020 final graduates collection film in collaboration with Vogue Italia. Also having him shoot the official campaign images of the winning designs.
'EQUILIBRIUM', the spellbinding film premiers on the official 'Istituto Marangoni & Vogue Italia' joint collaboration website. See here.

In an ambitious production, the film attempts to push the boundaries and conformities of a typical fashion film. Polack with a background in film, having worked for the likes of Baz Luhrmann and George Lucas uses the canvas to take the viewer on a journey. He listened to the designers thoughts and feelings about their own collections but especially took in, the thoughts they had about todays world affairs, which in most cases influenced the designs they produced.
The outcome, a dark and meditative film which forces the viewer to slow down and question everything. The objective was to echoe the very thoughts of the designers by means of 'feeling'. Be it uneasiness, curiosity, anxiety, uncertainty or just wanting answers, with the finale offering a hint of hope and light at the end of the tunnel.

Polack developed the story, art directed the look, was director of lighting & photography, directed the set and finished off production by editing & grading the film, so that he could retain the strong creative vision he set out to achieve.
An equally hypnotic sound scape,  complimented Polack's 'dream' as he once again uses the services of long time collaborator 'Joris Tillmans' to produce a tailored sound that helps transport the viewer in to this multi-faceted existence.

Schön Magazine publishes Polack's editorial 'Obscure silhouettes'

Polack's fashion / art editorial 'Obscure silhouettes' is featured online for Schön Magazine.
The story explores the possibilities of shifting shape, form and thought in a context of fashion imagery. A nod to commonly recognised methods found in traditional sculpture practice, Christopher set out to create these images inspired by a series of marble sculptures.

The brief was simple. Share a few sculptural images amongst Polack's team, and each would return with their interpretation within their disciplines.
Hair artist, Stylist and Model all contributed their ideas and sculptural interpretations to the story. View the full editorial here.

'Viktory' selected by Roger Ballen for the Human Body / Life Framers Awards - Instagram bans image

Polack's 'Viktory' photograph portraying the athleticism of an ex Russian competition ballerina falls under scrutiny after reverend fine art photographer and judge Roger Ballen selects it for second place during the Human Body / Life Framers Photo awards held in London. During promotions of the competition, Instagram bans the image without explanation.

The photograph looks to question beauty standards within the media today. Polack's objective was not to spotlight or make commentary of anything other than the beauty of the human form and her athleticism.
"She is a talented dancer, exhibiting a prowess of flexibility and athleticism. My job as an artist is to observe and present the human body in all its shapes and sizes. The spectrum of the human body is diverse and multifaceted and very curious to me." - Polack

'Viktory' is part of an ongoing series exploring the female form, which Christopher has been photographing since 2014. He intends to publish a book and exhibit the series in London later this year.
